eOffice goes native
I just got an e-mail from Dynoplex about a new version of their eOffice suite. Editing MS Office documents in eOffice always required rather cumbersome conversion procedures. According to the announcement, such conversions are no longer necessary so storing and editing native Office documents in your SD card is a lot easier now.
Dear Fellow Blackberry User,
We are happy to announce a new major release of the best document editing suite: eOffice™. There are a lot of new features and improvements in this release, but one really stands out - eOffice™ is now Native!
Yes, that’s right, we now support native MS Excel and Word file formats, so there is no more file conversion and your files are always there, instantly. To make an example: take SD card, plug it into your BlackBerry® and eOffice™ will open your Excel and Word files, enable you to edit, save, e-mail and do everything else as if you are on your PC or Mac.
Not only that, now you can buy eOffice for $69.95. This price is still not visible/availabe at Dynoplex’s own Web site, but the e-mail leaves no doubt:
Buy eOffice today and save 30% from its original price!
We are very excited with the release of eOffice™ suite with native editing. This is an important milestone for our company and we really want everybody to join us. This limited time offer brings down the price of the best document editing suite to only $69.95. Don’t miss out on this opportunity click Buy Now button right on your BlackBerry® to complete your purchase.

But does it support the superior OpenDocument Formats, as offered by Google Docs, OpenOffice.org and other leading solutions?

Although I agree that the ODF is superior, I can’t agree with “leading solutions”. MS Office is the leading solution by far and any standards. That’s what most of the corporate/professional world uses. I work with documents I receive from other people all over the world every day and NEVER EVER received an ODF.
Google Docs doesn’t even show up in my radar.
