Mail2Web Lets You Check Email From Your Browser

Mail2webpdaRecently I found myself using this wonderful free service from Mail2Web on my BlackBerry. There are some email accounts that I have that I almost never use but every once in awhile I need to check. I would get a ton of spam if I hooked them up through the BIS but this solution works.

If you go to www.mail2web.com/pda from your BlackBerry browser you can enter in your username and password to see your POP3 and IMAP emails. I know this is not the most secure method since you are giving your username and password to a 3rd party but I use it for disposable email addresses that I use for spam registrations. That way I can click on the link to register from my BlackBerry.

Very cool and free. If you need to do this more often I would recommend trying out the free LogicMail application we have mentioned quite a few times in the past.

BTW: Mail2Web does offer a pretty cheap hosted BES solution but I don’t know of anybody who is using it. Might be worth a try if you want to save some cash. There are some limitations though such as Oulook Web Access only for the low level accounts.

You can also use the free mail2web exchange version with your BIS service if you’re unable to subscribe to their Blackberry service. Setting up POP and IMAP aggregation is simple with the free account through the account control panel.

Enter your mail2web address and password as you normally would in BIS. The system should respond that it can’t automatically configure your account and give you the option to manually configure the account. Choose “Exchange Server” and enter “https://exchange.mail2web.com/exchange” as the server address, your mail2web address as the email address, your password and your mail2web address as the mailbox. I’ve noticed that mail delivered to my mail2web account gets delivered to my ‘berry faster than my other imap and pop-based accounts.
