There are two things that I love. My BlackBerry and Twitter. But putting the two together hasn’t always been the #1 priority among BlackBerry software developers. Sure, I could just post to Twitter using a shortcode via SMS TXT, but I also like to see the Twitter Public Timeline, and my friends Timeline. And I want options! And there are those that can’t afford to pay to TXT to a different country everytime they’d like to do a bit of micro-blogging.
TinyTwitter does just all that. Developed by Kevin Cawley from Boulder, CO(kcbigring on Twitter), TinyTwitter is a wonderful bit of software that puts everything Twitter at your fingertips. You can point your BlackBerry browser to http://tinytwitter.com or http://m.ttwt.at and the site will automatically recognize which type of device your running (yes, Windows Mobile devices are supported too) and let you download the application for free. It should tell you automatically but if it doesn’t make sure to download the “Recent Java Enabled Phones (MDIP 2.0)” version of the application.

Among the many options to choose from, here are just a few:
- Sync Settings
- Font Settings
- UI Settings
- Tweet Ticker that runs along the bottom showing your last tweet.
- User specific Timeline option
- And many more
While there still may be some bugs here and there, it’s a great application to add to your BlackBerry software stash. Happy Tweeting!

Welcome aboard, Bull.
.
Too bad TinyTwitter is not really a Blackberry app, it’s just Java. As such, it doesn’t work with BIS. It requires a direct TCP/APN connection.

Yeah I used that before, I like TinyTwitter a bit better for the increased options and all around look and feel. TwitterBerry is just too limited for me.

But would be nice that they add key shortcuts…

This worked for me:
You need to set the APN settings under Options, Advanced, TCP.
The settings are dependent on your carrier, I found my settings here:
http://www.blackberryforums.com/blackberry-network/2185-blackberry-internet-msn-chat-web-telnet-tcpip-no-bes.html
I don’t really have much idea what this all means, but it worked!

Chobr: you are a life-saver. I could not get any pics to upload (via TwitterBerry or TinyTwitter), but after changing the APN settings, it’s good as gold. Thanks for that link!
