Telus Is The First To Launch The 8330 Curve

One of our readers, Zach, sent in a tip that Telus has officially released the 8330 Curve. We usually do not cover when each carrier releases the same device but this is the first CDMA curve to be released. It is kind of ironic that the GSM Curve came out almost a year ago while the CDMA users are still biting at the bit to get one. Telus users can pick one up at this link for @249.99 with a 3 year contract.

BTW: What is with Canada and the 3 year contracts? After 3 years this device will be showing some serious signs of age.

In Canada we basically take it up the butt when it comes to cellular voice/data prices, etc. The few carriers we have are pretty much in league to keep prices as high as humanly possible.

In canada they want to make sure that we are slaves to the companies (read Rogers and et al) and they can charge us whatever they want as long as we are slaves. Cancelation is 20 dollars a month to get out of slavery. If they could they would have us sign contacts for the life of our children not only our lives.

And they will if you keep giving them ideas… :-?

Too bad Telus rushed to get this out so quickly – it seems like many (most? all?) of the Telus BlackBerry Curve 8330s do not in fact have working GPS. It has been around 2 months now and they still haven’t solved the problem. I hope it isn’t permanent. Before you buy this phone, make sure this issue is fully resolved. (unless you don’t want to have GPS of course..). Anyone have any info on when this might be fixed?
