I have a T-Mobile Curve 8320, and I am able to change the signal bars to numbers without any issue. However, the numbers appear only in black, so if you've got a dark background or wallpaper, you won't be able to see them. Try changing your wallpaper to a light color. Also, your problem could have to do with the theme you're using. The shortcut works fine for me using the BB Dimension Zen theme with a light-colored background.

I've done it on my VZW 8830 and it works. But I preferred bars so I switched it back.

I tried the "Change the signal strength display from bars to numbers" and what happened on my T-Mo 8320 is that the bars went blank. I never got any numbers there, neither on EDGE nor UMA. I was really hoping this would work with UMA, but it doesn't work at all it seems.

Can anyone else tell me if they got this to work?
