Sorry, not sure what that means?
Never had an app that is supposed to be able to access the internet not be able to access, either from this VZW 8830 or my prior NXTL 7100i.
Though I did get constant yes/no prompts from this Opera to access network which I don't recall from other apps.

DavidB, does your carrier let you use their APN? Mine doesn't. It's BIS or nothing. Under these circumstances, a few applications won't get a connection at all. Opera has been one of them so far.

@Luciano:
"Won't work"? I've had this and prior versions "work", just not reliably or as integrated as RIM browser.

Me, I'm not going to waste my time or effort on any 3rd party browser again until it can replace RIM's as the default browser. The OS obviously already has hooks in it for some other browser to be default.

Well, Opera Mini won't work with BIS. I've installed it several times on my Berry and it never worked. It complains there is no connection available.

Hmmm...reading up some more on JSR-75, I think either RIM's implementation or Opera's use on a BB may not be up to spec for downloads to work properly. I noticed may times trying to do something in this beta that over and over again I got the "application requests access to network resources" prompt requiring me to approve many times in order to do much of anything with it. Maybe there's some security setting that needs to be modified, but shouldn't the default app install set the proper permissions for the browser to actually FUNCTION like a web browser? I'm not on BES so my device isn't overly restricted (that I know of).

Well, I installed this on my VZW 8830 and after trying to use it to download an MP3 podcast from another BB site, my BB data connection locked up completely and had to battery pull to get my BB working again. I've removed it. I had high hopes if only for the ability to download large files to my device (like podcasts), but no joy. Heck, I couldn't even get it to let me "paste" a URL from an email or viigo or whatever into the browser address bar!

I think the app didn't replace 4 because it's a beta so it's meant to be installed along-side the production version.

So far I like the speed and the interface improvements; good job Opera!

I agree Ron, but it was really easy for me to install, and then enter in my Opera user/pswd to sync my bookmarks. No big deal right?

I was only annoyed I had to extra uninstall OperaMini 4.0 afterwards, and that it didn't just install over top of it. Aren't we a bunch of complainers. Well done Opera!!

I was able to update bookmarks with Opera Sync, but I wish it would transfer them locally when I install the update instead.

I can't believe they didn't import my L O N G bookmark list from 4.0. I love this browser, but bookmark management really sucks!
