The eyecandy continues  Now comes the media player. Notice the new inclusion of the dedicated Voice Notes application. It took long enough!

Sadly as you can see the voice notes are sent in .AMR format which sucks!!! There is a weird option in the properties menu to hide the voice note. Not sure what that is for…

The MP3 audio player got the main major features that I was looking for. An on the go playlist feature.

You will also like the feature upgrades in the options menu of the media application.

The video recorder is in not to be found in the media application. It has its own icon like the camera. It also does not like to be screenshotted .

Yes that is our cat sleeping because it is 3AM. It is also nice to know that you can continue the recording. But if you exit the application it gets closed. You can send the video file as a 3GP file over email.

There are also a few options in the options menu allowing for you to turn on the backlight (Auto, on, off) or add some effects. You can also change the video size and quality from crappy to crappier.

There was no change in the pictures or ringtone application sections so I ignored them. You will see this screenshot pop up if you have audio boost enabled:

The video application has not changed much either other than the control buttons.

    Player is not great. And can’t wait for recording. But why they didn’t put icon in Media? Hope there will be option for that, or that you can change notes icon with recording…

    Also if there is Youtube support, can you post video of how YT looks…

    Thanks for pointing that out Carl. I think that is OS 4.3 only. So all the curve users will find it to be new

    Carl, Voice notes are not noew, but sending via email is…

    And maybe you have Pearl with 4.3 version…

    Yes, that voice notes is probably the first thing I am going to delete if I ever get to install that 4.5 OS. I already have the VR+ application, which not only records voice memos but also sends them in the MP3 format. AMR is just not realistic. Plus, the recipient gets the message as an attachment or Web link or both, or you can simply send yourself a copy and keep it in your remote account for archival or backup or space-saving purposes.

    I guess I should write a review of VR+ one of these days. I am usually harsh in my reviews, but VR+ is one application I really like.

    The Blackberry is indeed a perfect messaging device. It has a full QWERTY, Auto Text, and if all that fails, I still can avoid the keyboard altogether and send people a little bit of talking. Good times.

    I have a 8310 Curve from AT&T. On the icon screen I have an icon that says “send voice note” when you scroll to it. I haven’t used it but I thought that was the same thing. I have OS 4.2.2.184.
