AT&T Releases BlackBerry 8120 Pearl

Blackberry_pearl_8120_lAfter us mistakenly posting (Thanks Kevin) about the 8120 being released on T-Mobile today I decided to verify this one. In a not so surprising move AT&T has grabbed up the 8120 today for general release. It has been passing around business channels for a bit now so I guess a consumer release was to be expected.

You can pick up the new Pearl for $199 from AT&T’s website with a new contract after rebate. This is the new Pearl 2 with OS 4.3. I don’t really see the point of WiFi yet for the non UMA carriers such as AT&T but I guess it is a feature none the less.

I was reading the specs and ran across an interesting line item:

Simultaneous voice and data capabilities

Is this a new feature that I missed the memo on? I thought this was only possible with HSDPA for AT&T. Are they talking about receiving emails over WiFi while on a WiFi call? Weird…

Doesn’t seem like it would be that hard to understand. I would guess they mean WiFi browsing while on a call, but I could be wrong.
