FindMe - Share Your Location On Facebook Without GPS

FindMeTaggingshotKevin, on CrackBerry, pointed out a new free innovative application from Electric Pocket called FindMe. The application reports your location to the Facebook application counterpart and lets you tag certain locations. For example you would tag “Work” at work and so on.

The coolest part is that the application does not use GPS! It uses the cell tower triangulation we have learned to love in Google Maps. The developers were smart enough to add a few features that I think are necessary. You can go off the grid.  (I have always wanted to say that) Also the application does not broadcast your location unless it is a location that you have tagged previously. Your location is also not stored (I hope) so they are at least trying to deal with “big brother” and privacy concerns.

If your interested you can pick up a copy of the beta and the Facebook application by going to this link: http://electricpocket.com/findme/. I have to say that I like the direction Electric Pocket has taken with BlackBerry development. With applications such as Flipside and Ringo they are really pushing the envelope of what you can do with your BlackBerry!
