RIM Releases 2 Free Mobile Magazine Readers For Canadians

One of our readers, RelicAte, sent in a tip about some new content on RIM’s mobile site mobile.blackberry.com. It turns out that RIM has made two new applications available for BlackBerry users for free but they seem to be targeted towards their Canadian native market. This is interesting because traditionally our friends up north have been given the shaft with limited data plans and late device releases.

The new applications are free mobile versions of MacLean’s Magazine and Canadian Business Magazine. Both of these applications have been developed by a company called  Polar Mobile. RelicAte pointed out that this is not your regular homescreen shortcut but rather more of an RSS feed reader. The application allows you to download new issues of the magazines and notifies you when new versions are available. I hope this means the end of all the homescreen shortcuts RIM has been releasing recently.

You can pick up the applications by going to mobile.blackberry.com from your BlackBerry browser. The links are on the frontpage. Thanks RelicAte!
