Free Poppies Zen Theme For The BlackBerry 8300 Curve
February 22nd, 2008 by Ronen Halevy
Gary, one of the resident theme gurus at Themes4BB, has released a very “pretty” Poppies Zen theme for the BlackBerry 8300. I will leave the description as “pretty” since this is a feminine theme. The icons are stock but the backgrounds and titlebar look very nice. I know my wife would like this theme so I have to congratulate Gary on a job well done! He seems pretty proud of himself that he can design what he calls “girl” themes.

OTA download is available on Themes4BB at this link. Sadly people have been stealing other authors themes so ZIP files for Desktop installs are no longer offered. Sucks!

[...] New free girly flower theme for your Blackberry Curve 8300 series phone. Not that I would use it but it is a very attractive theme. [...]

This is one of the most beautiful themes I’ve ever seen, and I don’t quite buy the idea that it is “girly”. I don’t like busy backgrounds in my desktop or phone, I think the purpose of those areas is to display icons and it is very easy for a background to get in the way of that purpose. But apart from that, those poppies are absolutely lovely and the entire theme is just light, not necessarily feminine. I, for one, am sick of those heavy/aggressive themes with lots of black and/or silver and shades and metal that our pop culture has been pushing since the 80s. I don’t really mind their being aggressive, I mind their being some sort of norm, and a very old norm, that screams “lack of imagination” all over the place. That’s exactly the kind of pitfall that RIM has been dodging very well with its latest line of colorful and very stylish phones. Meanwhile, the gadget scene drools for the XPERIA, another very black and very angular phone that also seems to have been tailor-made to the Alien or the Predator. Please!
