BerryReview & Viigo Going On Vacation This Saturday

NationallampoonvacationDuring the outage last week I actually had quite a few readers asking me why Viigo was not working.  So I decided to share these two scheduled maintenance windows.

First of all our hosting company, MediaLayer, has informed us that there may be a few minutes of downtime on Saturday, February 23th, 2007 between the hours of 12:00 and 1:00 AM EST [GMT -5]. They are booting the system into a new kernel in order to ensure protection against recent exploits and to make way for an upcoming feature.

Viigo has also made some announcements that they will be doing a major service upgrade over the weekend. I am hoping that this upgrade will speed up the feed updates in Viigo. According to Viigo they are doubling their server capacity and moving to a new provider.

From Viigo:

Dear Viigo User,

On Saturday, February 23rd, from 7am to 4pm EST, we will be performing a major server upgrade to accommodate our rapidly-growing subscriber base. As a result, you’ll benefit from an enhanced user experience, including faster download times.

During this upgrade, you will be unable to receive article updates, add or remove channels, or access MyViigo from the Viigo.com website. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience.
