Mycingular.BlackBerry.net Addresses Go Dark April 2nd
February 19th, 2008 by Ronen Halevy
Just as a courtesy reminder for all AT&T users. I got an email from AT&T that the name@mycingular.blackberry.net email addresses will be going dark come April 2nd 2008. Until then you still have the automatic redirection but from then on out you will only have a name@att.blackberry.net email address.

yourname@Mycingular.BlackBerry.net seems like a ridiculously long e-mail address anyway? So I guess now it’s changed to yourname@MyAT&TtakesovertheworldMuhahah.BlackBerry.net?

Nikolaus. I deleted the BlackBerry email address. Too much spam. Never had any use for it since you cannot retrieve those emails

Hey, I certainly use my @blackberry address. Anything that is sent there gets to my phone in under 10 seconds, while the other mail boxes are just polled every 15 minutes. That’s exactly what I really really love about that address. But the second part of the trick is that I never divulge it to anyone. Instead, I have a slightly intricate filter system in my mail server that sifts all my mail and knows exactly what should be copied and sent to that lightning speed address. So people write me at luciano@provider.com and, if it is important enough, I get two copies: one on my desktop and the other one on the phone.
.
Incidentally, I’ve noticed that my personal filter lets a little bit spam get through occasionally. But it just reaches my desktop mailbox, never the Blackberry, so it’s clear that RIM has some anti-spam doing it’s own filtering as well.

Luc I just use BES and Gmail. BES is blazing fast. Ever faster than the blackberry.net address. Gmail is pretty darn quick also. Downside is you pay for BES but I find it is worth every penny
