Simon at BBCool has the innate ability to see through smoke and mirrors. Or in this case a bad transparent ribbon covering a screenshot. This is on the new teaser site Viigo has created in preparation for WES. They are calling this latest release “Project Tango” promising “To Change The Way You Use Your BlackBerry.” Those are some fighting words.
This new “Project Tango” should be pretty cool since what Simon sharp eyes found in the screenshot was an option for AUDIO. Yes boys and girls, audio! Since I passed 1st grade math I can fairly certain make the same deduction as Simon Audio+RSS=Podcasts?!? I sure hope so. Though I do wonder about the interface for Viigo shown in the screenshot above. I really hope that is not part of the tango.
I can’t help wondering if we were supposed to be able to see through the ribbon. It makes me wonder if the graphic designer is getting an earful or if this is just a very clever marketing ploy. Either way…
No official word from Viigo yet but I wouldn’t put it past them. They have been working secretly in their underground lab for too long for them not to be cooking something up. I guess “Project Tango” is what has been keeping them busy.

This is incredible news. I was just thinking about why there wasn’t any podcasting news reader for blackberry, and this shows up. I hope they allow you to just select which podcasts you’d like to download and let it do it’s work in the background, download. I would love to be able to listen to my podcasts in the car, not necessarily streaming.

That is only going to be good if you have Wifi or 3G. I once tried to come up with a podcast download system and the result was awful because 4 or 5Mb still is too much over EDGE. It takes too long.
.
Even so, 3G doesn’t seem to be anywhere in sight for Blackberry phones, and Wifi pretty much has you tethered to a hotspot which is a fixed location anyway, probably your home or office, so might as well just download the episodes on the PC and drag them over to the phone via USB. I do that every day, it takes 1 or 2 minutes.
.
Or maybe they intend to try and talk us all into the idea of getting some of those small and boring channels that are offered with that lame QuickPlayer application.
.
Hey, somebody has to be the wet blanket around here.

You’re right, I had forgotten there were EVDO ones.
