EZ Reregister - Request New Serial Codes For Your New Device
EZ Reregister, also known as BARRT (BlackBerry Application Reregistration Request Tool), is a nifty application that is currently in Beta. During the Beta the application is free. The developer, Mark, created the application to easily allow himself to request registration codes for his latest BlackBerry. This has always been one of the issues with the BlackBerry since every piece of software you buy is tied to a specific devices PIN number.
EZ Reregister hopes to help with that issue by allowing you to email the appropriate developers and companies to request a new serial code for your new device. Mark is planning on bringing the application to multi-user environments next and adding a online portal afterwards. Personally I wish RIM would step up and help developers maybe tie in registrations with a BIS account or some other universal account that would be easier to transfer between devices.
Until then we have Mark and EZ Reregister to help with the chore of changing devices. You can pick up the latest free beta version which was released yesterday at the following link: http://ezreregister.com/software.html
Mark has told me that he had put EZ Register out for beta testing on January 28th, and it will run through March 6th. If there is sufficient interest, it will become a commercial application. Very shortly after that. No price point set yet, but he promises it wont be to high. According to Mark no major problems were found during the beta testing to this point, most suggestions are for cosmetic changes or added features. As the ezregister url doesn’t work anymore, I’m guessing feedback wasn’t sufficient enough to publish a non-beta update?
Anyone know of a source online for the beta version (I may have to have my unit replaced under warranty (phone issues), and some products are tied to the current PIN). Cheers
