S4BB has been on a roll releasing small applications for BlackBerry devices. The most recent in their lineup is their RandomPassword Generator. For $9.95 S4BB allows you to generate complex passwords on your BlackBerry.

As a security conscious person I would usually say that this is a good idea. The problem is that there is already a FREE way to generate passwords (and even store them securely) from your BlackBerry using the Password Keeper application. The Password Keeper application is provided free by RIM and works like a charm in generating secure passwords of 8 characters including alphanumerics, numbers, and special characters.

Don’t get me wrong the S4BB Random Password Generator has many more options but truthfully there are hundreds of websites that will do this for you for free.

To generate a password on your BlackBerry it is a simple as opening the Password Keeper application. Clicking the menu button and selecting “New.” Then scroll down to the password area and click the menu button again and select “Random Password.”

Another FREE method is to just bookmark the page www.goodpassword.com on your BlackBerry. Just click the generate password button after selecting you options and thats it!
