Airline Restrictions On Lithium Batteries? القيود المفروضة على الخطوط الجوية وبطاريات الليثيوم؟ FUBAR? Fubar؟
I have to preface this by saying that I am not an expert on this issue. أجد لزاما علي ان هذا التمهيد بالقول انني لست خبيرا في هذه المساله. With that said… وقال مع ذلك…
This new regulation just has my head spinning in circles. هذا النظام الجديد للتو قد رأسي الغزل في حلقة مفرغه. After all the craziness with liquids it seems that Lithium Batteries are the next victim of the FAA. بعد كل هذه السوائل مع جنون يبدو ان بطاريات الليثيوم هي الضحيه القادمة للقوات المسلحه الانغوليه. I feel like اشعر I missed the memo on this in August انا ضاعت على هذه المذكره في آب / اغسطس . The rules about carrying Lithium Ion batteries on airplanes has to be one of the most confusing requirements yet. القواعد عن تحمل بطاريات ايون الليثيوم على الطائرات ان يكون واحدا من اكثر الخلط بين الاحتياجات حتى الآن. The worst part is that they are effective as of yesterday January 1 st 2008! الأسوأ هو أن تكون نافذة المفعول اعتبارا من يوم 1 كانون الثاني / يناير 2008!
Now I have a problem. الآن عندي مشكلة. In 3 days I am heading down to CES 2008 with my laptop, camera, BlackBerry, and a bunch of other rechargeable devices. في 3 أيام وأنا على البند نزولا الى مؤتمر الاحصائيين الاوروبيين 2008 بلادي مع أجهزة الكمبيوتر المحمول واجهزة التصوير والعليق ، ومجموعة اخرى من الاجهزه rechargeable. This means that I have to put any spares for these devices in a plastic bag. وهذا يعني انه لا بد لي ان وضع اي قطع غيار لهذه الاجهزه في كيس من البلاستيك. Also there is some inane limit on how many grams of Lithium are allowed to be in my luggage or carry on. وهناك ايضا بعض فارغ حد لعدد غرام من الليثيوم ويسمح ليكون في بلدي او حمل الامتعه. Seriously I really wish I was not flying this month. انا حقا ترغب بجدية كنت لا ترفع هذا الشهر. I remember the craziness when the liquid ruling came out and they threw out my chapstick because it was not in a plastic baggie! وانا اذكر السائل جنون عندما خرج الحاكم والقوا بها chapstick بلدي لأنه لم يكن في baggie من البلاستيك! I wonder how many grams of Lithium are in a spare BlackBerry battery? انني اتساءل كم غرام من الليثيوم في بطاريه احتياطية ك؟
From what I am understanding the FAA is worried about the contacts on loose batteries shorting out and causing a fire. من فهم ما انا في القوات المسلحه الانغوليه وتتخوف الاتصالات فضفاضة على التقليل من اصل البطاريات وتسبب في اطلاق النار. Supposedly the fire would not be containable by current fire systems on airplanes. ويفترض ان النار لن يكون قابل للاحتواء من قبل النظم الحالية النار على الطائرات. The crazy part is that they allow batteries as long as they are installed inside the device they belong to. مجنون فإن الجزء هو انها تسمح للبطاريات ما دامت المركبه داخل الجهاز التي ينتمون اليها. That means a battery inside a laptop or BlackBerry is fine but otherwise it needs to follow all the requirements. وهذا يعني البطاريه داخل الكمبيوتر المحمول أو العليق على ما يرام ولكنها فيما عدا تحتاج الى متابعة جميع الاحتياجات.
The ironic part is that they then contradict themselves on the المفارقه هي ان جزءا ثم تناقض نفسها على same page في الصفحه نفسها :
The research also shows that an explosion will not result from shorting or damaging either lithium-ion or primary lithium batteries. ويبين البحث أيضا ان انفجار لن يؤدي الى الحاق اضرار او التقليل من ايونات الليثيوم ، اما الابتدائي او بطاريات الليثيوم. Both are, however, extremely flammable. على حد سواء ، مع ذلك ، لهوبة جدا. Primary lithium batteries cannot be extinguished with firefighting agents normally carried on aircraft, whereas lithium-ion batteries are easily extinguished by most common extinguishing agents, including those carried on board commercial aircraft. بطاريات الليثيوم الاولية لا يمكن ان تسقط مع وكلاء واطفاء الحرائق التي تقوم عادة على متن الطائرات ، في حين ان بطاريات إيونات الليثيوم تسقط بسهولة من قبل وكلاء اطفاء الاكثر شيوعا ، بما فيها تلك التي تقوم على متن الطائرات التجارية.

I read elsewhere that the concern is that fires created by Lithium batteries cannot be fought by the automatic fire agents in the luggage compartment of the plane. قرأت في مكان آخر ان القلق هو ان الحرائق الناجمة عن بطاريات الليثيوم لا يمكن أن يحارب من نيران الرشاشات وكلاء في مقصوره الامتعه من الطائرة. In the cabin, there is less concern with these types of fires since there are various fire extinguishers available. في المقصوره ، وهناك اهتمام اقل مع هذه الانواع من الحرائق نظرا لعدم وجود طفايات الحريق المختلفة المتاحة.

Yeah I thought so too but what about batteries in your luggage that are connected to a device. نعم اعتقد ذلك ايضا ولكن ماذا عن البطاريات الخاصة بك في الامتعه التي ترتبط جهاز. For example a shaver? آلة الحلاقه على سبيل المثال؟
