FAQ: How To Quickly Change The BlackBerry Browser

ChangeBBbrowser[1]Many readers have asked me about the difference between the 3 web browsers that are available on BlackBerry devices.

There are the:

  • WAP browser – Usually renamed by your carrier which is meant to browse WAP pages (AT&T calls it MEdia Net)
  • Internet Browser – Meant for regular web browsing
  • BlackBerry Browser – This browser is only for users who have a BlackBerry Enterprise Server. All traffic over this browser goes through the BES server so you can access internal servers not usually accessible from the other two browsers

Now many “how to” articles ask you to make sure you are using a specific browser. You can set the default browser by following these steps:

  • Open any browser
  • Click the Menu option
  • Click the Options menu item
  • Click the General properties menu item
  • and then set the default browser

I have recently found a more streamlined way to switch between the browsers. This has to be the quickest way I have found so far.

  • Open any browser
  • Click the menu option
  • Click the Go To.. option
  • at the Go To prompt click the menu button again
  • Select the option Change Browser
  • Select the browser you wish to change to..

And your done!
