Josep liet me enkel het weten een ongeveer nieuwe vrije toepassing langs Neosistec dat gebruikt GPS om u te helpen uw auto vinden. De enige waarschuwing is dat het GPS op uw Blackberry vereist. Het werkte groot aan mijn Blackberry 8310.

De software is een groot idee en herinnert me aan een de vinderGPS van de Koffie toepassing die rond dreef. Ik heb altijd kwesties vindend mijn auto gehad wanneer ik naar sportieve gebeurtenis, overleg, en pretparken ga en ik vind dat CarFinder een perfecte oplossing in plaats van het herinneren is dat u in DisneyLand in Goofy niveau 2 Sinaasappel parkeerde.

De manier het de werken is dat u de toepassing opstart wanneer u uit uw auto krijgt en de vastgestelde GPS plaatsknoop op het belangrijkste scherm klikt.

Het zal dan de huidige plaats richten u binnen bent en het opslaat. U gaat dan over uw zaken en wanneer u uw auto wilt opnieuw vinden u opent de toepassing.

U hebt dan drie opties om uw auto te vinden. De eerste optie is voor de toepassing om u een kompas te tonen helpen u aan de GPS plaats van uw auto leiden. De tweede optie staat u toe om de plaats in de Kaarten van het Blackberry te openen. De laatste optie staat u toe om de plaats naar een vriend te verzenden. Aangezien ik geen vrienden heb had ik geen kans om de laatste eigenschap uit te proberen .

Ik moet me voor het hebben niet screenshots van de toepassing in actie verontschuldigen maar ik breng GPS geen ontvangst binnen mijn flat ertoe om daadwerkelijke screenshots te krijgen en ik stond niet in de koude met mijn laptop duidelijk uit te komen op het punt. Ik wens werkelijk dit somebody uit met een toepassing zou komen die op uw Blackberry zit en u om screenshots zonder een PC toestaat te nemen.

Ik had slechts een paar waarschuwingen met de toepassing. Eerst en vooral moeten de gebruikers van AT&T wat werk rond uitvoeren om de kaarten van het Blackberry op hun apparaten te krijgen aangezien AT&T het toepassingspictogram door gebrek blokkeert. Dit is niet de fout van Neosistec maar kan kwesties voor wat veroorzaken. Tweede van alle wens dit ik er een manier was om de kaart in Kaarten open te stellen Google maar dat zou een beperking van het Blackberry kunnen zijn. Third, it took quite awhile for the application to catch the GPS coordinates from the BlackBerry. Sometimes I had to wait for 3–4 minutes until I got the fix even though BBmaps would catch in less that 1 minute. Last of all I have always been a little annoyed when developers put large static banners on the top of each page. As you can see in the screenshot of the homepage the banner takes up half the screen.

Other than that I have only good things to say about Neosistec’s CarFinder. Neosistec consistently comes up with great software but I usually have to rely on our friend Josep to translate them to English. Sadly there is no product page but there is really no need for one.

Pros:

  • It just works
  • Integration with BlackBerry maps
  • Send location to friend is a cool feature

Cons:

  • Slow GPS location pickup
  • Bad English translation in the application (Just read the EULA)
  • Large banner on top of application

Conclusion: I really wish RIM would release an API that allows other applications to triangulate your location using cellphone towers without GPS. Since Google did this in Google Maps I have fallen in love. It allows me to have a pretty accurate location in less than a second so that I don’t have to wait for the GPS to fix on the location. This would be a great way to bring location based services to BlackBerrys without GPS. Hopefully Neosistec can find a way to integrate this in the future. Otherwise I highly recommend this application for anybody with a GPS BlackBerry and a car. Maybe in the next revision they can find a way to help my wife find her keys…
