Small Update To Google Maps - New Version is 2.0.1
For those of you who absolutely have to have the latest and greatest version… Google just released a new update to Google Maps at the following link:
There is no word as to what the new version 2.0.1 brings to the table that version 2.0.0 did not but as I said this is mostly for the version hunters like me
.
People are really raving about the new feature in Google Maps Version 2 that allows devices without GPS to triangulate your location on the map using cellphone towers. This is actually pretty accurate and even works in buildings. Most people are reporting an accuracy of better than 5,000 feet. This is great for carriers like Verizon that lock down the GPS in their BlackBerry devices.
NOTE: Last time I checked the new version is not yet available in the new Google Updater application that we mentioned before.

Thanks for the tip! I installed the update while I was driving to another city close by. I noticed that now the map keeps centering itself on “my location” as it updates itself if I’m not following a route. On version 2.0 I’d just run out of bounds depending on the zoom level and I had to push “0″ again.

Caio,
I know many users are happy with the new “follow me” feature in Google Maps. Hopefully they can add voice prompts in the future
