Updates To RIM’s Google Talk & Yahoo Messenger Clients
If you are one of those people (like me) who has to have the latest version of everything…RIM has just released updated versions of the Google Talk and Yahoo Messenger clients. The version is a bump from 2.0.33 to 2.0.38. As usual RIM has provided no release notes or change log so we have no clue what is gained by upgrading. Hopefully RIM added or fixed something more than just bumping up the version number.
Once again the updates can be downloaded from you BlackBerry by heading to RIM’s mobile website at http://mobile.blackberry.com
Personally I am hoping they have fixed some of the connectivity issues where you get the “cannot contact server error.” I hate this error because it will not reconnect automatically until you enter the application again and click the OK button. What a pain! I have to wait for other people to tell me that I am offline
Nice Extras: On a side note I did notice a feature that I have never seen before. If you are on top of the Google Talk icon on your homescreen and hit the menu button you will see an option that says “my status.” If you click on it you can immediately change your status and/or your away message. Pretty nifty
