Da ich meine BlackBerryForums RSS Zufuhr auf 11/16 durchlas, beachtete ich einen Pfosten, der „dieses Programm-Hilfen betitelt wurde, die Sie Ihr verlorenes Blackberry finden“. Unnötig zu sagen, wurde ich intrigiert. Ich trat mit dem Entwickler in Verbindung und er stellte eine Kopie des Programms für mich zum Test und zum Bericht zur Verfügung.

FindIt angebrachtEs ist für Installation über PC nur vorhanden, der ein hübscher direkter Prozeß ist. Sobald Sie das Programm angebracht haben, beachten Sie, daß es eine generische Ikone gibt, die „FindIt“ auf Ihrem BB Menü betitelt wird.
Das Klicken auf ihm scheint nicht, nichts zu tun, also können Sie die Ikone ohne schlechte Wirkungen verstecken.

Ich versuchte es heraus, indem ich mein BB Profil auf "OFF" einstellte verriegelte, es, und es in Stütze einsetzte. Ich schickte mich eine Anzeige dann (Thema = „pleasefindmenow“) zu meinem BES Konto, und sicher genug, zum BB begonnenen Vibrieren und zum Ausstrahlen einer oszillierenden Reihe Töne. Das Volumen der Töne war, aber auf keinen Fall loud hörbar. Es würde Ihre Aufmerksamkeit zeichnen, wenn Sie sehr nah an ihr waren und es anderes Nebengeräusch gab. Andernfalls wenn Sie in einem ruhigen Raum waren, konnten Sie ihn vom anderen Ende schwach hören.

Während mein BB in der Stütze war, mußte ich die stumme Taste schlagen, um den Schirm einzuschalten. Und, während der Schirm verschlossen war, sah ich nur mein „Inhaber“ Info, d.h. „Mein Name. Bitte Anruf, wenn Sie.“ gefunden werden. Erinnern Sie so sich, wenn Ihr BB auf Verriegelung automatisch eingestellt wird, oder Sie stellen sie auf Verriegelung manuell, Sie müssen Kontaktinformationen in Ihre BB einsetzen „Wahlen ein> Inhaber“ Einstellungen.
FindIt pop-up Sobald ich es entriegelte, sah ich meine Anzeige (einschließlich meine email Unterzeichnung), knalle oben auf dem Schirm. Die Töne und der vibrierende Anschlag, sobald Sie ein email öffnen. Leider könnte ich nicht diese APP erhalten, um zu arbeiten, als ich das „pleasefindmenow“ email zu irgendwelchen meine BIS Rechnungsprüfungen schickte. Ich würde annehmen, daß es adaequat sein würde, wenn Sie nicht ein BES Konto hatten, also lassen Sie uns wissen, wenn dieses der Fall ist.

Ich prüfte auch die APP, indem ich nicht das BB berührte, als die Töne anfingen, auszugehen. The vibration and tones start simultaneously, but the bvibration lasts about 10 seconds, while the tones continue for approximately another 2 minutes and 20 seconds. After that point, there is no more notification, except for the pop-up message you included in the body of the email. I would have hoped there would be a space of about 5 minutes and then the vibration and tones would start again, in case someone was not near it that first time. It looks like you’ll just have to keep sending it messages until you find it, or someone contacts you, or the battery dies.

For BB’s with integrated GPS, I’d like to see the ability to send an email from a pre-determined email account, which would set off the alerts, but also automatically send a reply email with the GPS coordinates of the device (or the last known coordinates). That would at least give you an idea of where you may have left it,

Pros:

  • Works with any profile setting, even when profile is set to “Off”.
  • Works when left in holster, standby mode, or locked.
  • Finally, a solution to finding a silenced BB.

Cons:

  • Alert tones are not very loud.
  • Vibration and tones do not repeat after initial trigger.
  • Does not appear to work with all email accounts on the BB.

Possible improvements:

  • Repeating alerts
  • Ability to set a particular ringtone to go off, instead of tones.
  • Integration with GPS to provide last known location.

Conclusion:

I did not have any problems with the download or installation of this application. The only “problem” I had was figuring out how to turn of the tones. The solution is open an email (although that did not always work for me, and I had to reset my BB, or wait the 2.5 minutes for it to stop).

All testing was done on a BlackBerry 8320 Curve (v4.2.2.180) and no glitches or delete and re-installs were required.

Overall, I like this application. I think there definitely could be some improvements, as mentioned above, but it certainly accomplishes it’s stated purpose (”This Program Helps you Find Your Lost Blackberry”).
