FAQ: Memory Cleaner On Curve Home Screen

rb71.jpgUPDATE: Read this post if you do not have the memory cleaner option on your BlackBerry. I hope this clears the confusion.

I just received a great little tip from Gary Cutri, the moderator on Crackberry Aus site.

I was having problems with the lack of memory space on my Curve so I posted a thread some time ago. Yesterday I received this tip as to how to put the Memory cleaner icon onto my homescreen. This may be a bit old in terms of news but I found it useful. The procedure is as follows:

  1. Go to Options.
  2. Select Security Options.
  3. Select Memory Cleaner.
  4. Change “Show Icon on Home Screen” to Yes.
  5. Exit and Save

You will now have a new icon on your Home Screen. Just click on the icon to clean up your memory. This works great on my 8300 Curve but have been told there is no option in the 8310.

So give it a shot if you find yourself keeping all your emails and not cleaning out your web history files often enough.

    Just found this:

Navigate to Setting>Security Options>General Settings. Go down to where it says content protection and enable it. Its gonna ask for a password, go ahead and input whatever you want. After you have set a password back out of settings and restart your phone. Now when you go back into the Security Options and there should be a memory cleaning option. This doesn’t wipe any of your personal stuff so dont worry about that. I gained 6 megs when i checked my memory. Great little tool

In order to get this feature on your device you will have to update to the latest firmware for your device. e.g. 4.2.2.146
