Turn Your Sprint BlackBerry 8830 Into A Wireless EVDO Router
There has been hardware out for months allowing you to use wireless EVDO cards with specific EVDO routers but this is the first that is compatible with BlackBerry devices. It seems that the new Cradelpoint CTR-350 (Review link) allows you to cradle your Sprint 8830 to the router and share the connection with other WiFi equipped devices or computers. The only problem seems to be that you cannot recieve voice calls when you are using it for data. I guess you cant have your cake and eat it. (At least not yet!)
The router costs a hefty $149.99 at 3gstore.com
As mentioned in the review, the Cradlepoint CTR-350 is TINY! It’s slightly larger than a deck of cards (and smaller than the 8830), which makes this combination highly portable! Just tether your Blackberry 8830 to the CTR-350 and you create an instant hotspot! Now you can share your Blackberry’s EVDO capabilities with multiple computers. Imagine having a WiFi hotspot everywhere you go! This is a very exciting new use for your Blackberry 8830.
An important note - you can not receive or make any phone calls while using the CTR-350 for data sharing.
As you can see the CradlePoint CTR350 is much smaller than the 8830 - which means it is the perfect companion for a BlackBerry 8830 (Sprint Only at this time).
