RIM Claiming Trademark Infringment By LG
I just read in Bloomberg that RIM is once again heading out to the courthouse but this time they are going against LG. RIM thinks that the new Black Label phones by LG infringe on their trademark. They hope to bar LG from using the Black Label name and expect to recieve “unspecified damages”
.
I guess that after they settled with Samsung about the BlackJack, RIM is thinking they can win again. RIM does seem a bit greedy this time by claiming that the older LG Chocholate phone also infringes on their trademark since they Verizon sells a Black Cherry version. They want to bar LG from selling those phones also. Does RIM really think they own the word/prefix Black in relation to phones. I guess we will see soon enough.
