Geotag Your BlackBerry Pictures For Free With BBplaces

BbplacesJosep just tipped me off to a free new application for BlackBerry devices that allows you to upload pictures you have taken with your berry and geotag them with the application. You can also view other geotagged pictures near your location. So far it seems that this application is being used mostly in Spain but the application does have an English version. You also need to click on the British flag on the top right of BBplaces.com to get the English version of the site. For now this seems like a novelty but who knows what it will develop into in the future. If you feel like braving it out head on over to the links below to try it out.

Caveat emptor: The software obviously requires a camera and GPS (bluetooth pucks also work) on your BlackBerry and you will need OS 4.2.1 at the minimum. That leaves BlackBerry 8100 users out in the cold.

MapWith.Us just released a blackberry geotagging product. Geotag your pictures and automatically transmit them to your personal or public maps. I’ve already uploaded over 500 photos from my blackberry pearl. MapWith.Us also has a complete set of map annotation and collaboration tools, so you can customize your maps once they’re uploaded. This is a US based company with patents pending on mapping and mobile technology, thus others will not be able to legally replicate their technology. Check it out it’s pretty cool.
