I have seen some serious IT Policies over the years but this one took the cake. Ik heb een aantal serieuze IT-beleid door de jaren heen maar deze nam de taart. The Navy and Marines have locked down the BlackBerry's under their control and turned them into 1 trick horses.  The new commandments say: De marine en mariniers hebben vergrendeld de BlackBerry's onder hun controle en veranderde ze in 1 truc horses. De nieuwe geboden zeggen:

  1. Thou shalt not PIN people Gij zult niet PIN mensen
  2. Thou shalt not use BlackBerry Messenger Gij zult geen gebruik maken van BlackBerry Messenger
  3. Thou shalt not use GPS Gij zult geen GPS-gebruik
  4. Thou slalt NEVER install 3rd Party applications Gij slalt NOOIT installeren 3rd Party toepassingen

I almost feel sorry for these guys. Ik heb bijna medelijden met deze jongens. Some of the restrictions are just over the top. Enkele van de beperkingen zijn net over de top. When you have your BlackBerry connected to your computer the wireless connection gets killed. Als u uw BlackBerry aangesloten op de computer de draadloze verbinding wordt gedood. On top of that all your phonecalls go immediately to voicemail and emails are held until you unplug. Op de top van dat al uw telefoongesprekken Ga onmiddellijk naar voicemail en e-mails worden aangehouden totdat u loskoppelen. The irony of the whole deal is that they are only required to have 5 character passwords. De ironie van de hele deal is dat zij alleen verplicht zijn om 5 wachtwoorden karakter hebben.

This reminds me of an old saying I love about security. Dit doet me denken aan een oud gezegde Ik hou over beveiliging. “The ultimate security method is to just write the information down on a piece of paper and burn it. "De ultieme zekerheid methode is om gewoon te schrijven de informatie neer op een stuk papier en het branden. It's unrecoverable and completely secure” Het is onherstelbaar en volledig veilig "
