vTap - Search WikiPedia And Wiktionary From Your BlackBerry

vtapwikipedia1.jpgI know many people use the renown Beyond411 to do quick lookups on their BlackBerry but I just found a piece of software that caters better to certain uses. The new vTap beta for WikiPedia does an amazing job of providing search results as you type. It shows you the results and when you click on them it gives you about a line of text such as a definition and then shows you up to 5 different links below.

As you can see on the left I searched for the word “Blog.” In the first result I clicked on it and it gave me 5 options: Search on WikiPedia, Search on Wiktionary, Search for News, Pronunciation, and the website if applicable.  I am not sure where it is drawing all of its information from but I personally loved the Pronunciation option. If you click on the button within a few seconds you hear a woman pronouncing the word you selected. I found this to be a very useful tool and its connections to WikiPedia mobile and Wiktionary were very useful.

Check it out at the links below:

I’ve been a blackberry user for last 3 years and have most of folks i know using these business device.

To be honest - no one cares about such applications.. There is no value add compared to other apps… Who cares about wikipedia on BB?

    Solie,
I know that not every application is intended for everybody. Personally I uninstalled this application right after I tried it. On the other hand I know other users who could use this application as a free dictionary.

Simply said its different strokes for different folks
