[...] BerryReview just pointed us to a handy application from RIM for an incredibly small sect of BlackBerry users: those who own a Land Rover LR2, Volvo S80 and V70 or Jaguar XK. This application, the Bluetooth Pairing Helper, supposedly eases the Bluetooth pairing process with your car as outlined in RIM’s knowledgebase. Outside of working with a microphone built into the car for voice calls, what other applications are there for Bluetooth in your ride? Music? Maybe some diagnostics? My guess is that it would take an expensive overhaul of the car to make that work. You might want to try something like this:

I just paired my BB8800 wioth LR 2 Landrover. All seems to work excpet when I make a call, I do not hear the ringing tone at other end. Same with GPS, I do not hear the voice commands from the cars speakers. Seems like the car blocks out any sound even from the BB device.
Anyone know how toi fix this ?

    Won’t install on a 7290 - claims it needs 4.2 handheld software :(

Still stuck with no bluetooth in my new LR2 :(

    David,
Sorry to hear that it does not work on your 7290. RIM did not publish an OS requirement so I assumed it was for all Bluetooth enabled blackberry’s. I guess that means the 7100 will not work?

Thanks, would have been nice if RIM could have made it work with all versions, or publish that it doesn’t !

It appears that anything that doesn’t have the 4.2 handheld software available won’t work

You can only download the application if you have Internet Explorer.

This seems ironic given that some people have a Blackberry over a Windows mobile device because they don’t want to use a Microsoft product!
